People in Miami really know how to take care of themselves, so I knew they’d be the real deal. Uni K Wax not only offers every service you need for women, but they also offer services for men that most local waxing places don’t offer. I went there to get my eyebrows done (and maybe a few other things but that shall remain off the record) and I love the experience. The team was super professional, the wax they use is all-natural and left my skin feeling nice and fresh. I sat down with manager Richard, who told me more about Uni K Wax.

What do you do?

I am the manager of Uni K Wax Jersey City.

What is Uni K Wax?

Uni K Wax is a unique all-body waxing company. It’s all natural; it’s made of pine resin and beeswax. It has no paraffins and it’s gluten-free. We have over 180 wax services for men and women.

Is this the first location or is it a chain?

Uni K Wax is a franchise that originated in Miami in 1993.

We are one of the first franchises in Jersey City. We have locations in Brick, Hoboken, and NYC.

Awesome. How did you get into it?

I’ve always had a passion for the health and fitness industry as a longtime personal trainer. This was just a different avenue I could branch into, and I love working with people.

So you guys do everything?

We do neck to toe for men and women, from a Brazilian to a Commando for men to eyebrows, ears, nostrils. It’s not painless, but it is very minimal.

Now, for men, that’s a big thing. Most places don’t offer these services to them.

When did you guys open?

We opened about two months ago.

Do you guys have membership packages?

We have series, so you can buy a series of a certain service. Say you wanted to get a Brazilian, you could buy a series of 6 and get 1 free or buy a series of 10 and get 2 free. We also have touch-up services. It’s more of a package for maintenance.

What’s the pain level?

Since our wax is all-natural and elastic, it does have an ouchless type of feeling to it. It’s gentle, good for sensitive skin, and is as pain-free as waxing could possibly be.

Is there anything else you’d like people to know about Uni K Wax?

We’re a new waxing studio to Jersey City, so please come and check us out. The key component is our one wax guarantee, and that is important. When a service is being performed, that wax warmer is brought into the room, utilized for your service, and only your service. If there’s any extras, it’s discarded, sanitized, and put back to service. It’s not used over and over for multiple services or multiple people.

What if a client comes in here and they’ve never been waxed before? What can they expect?

They can expect a gentle wax. It’s going to be as pain free as possible, and we aim to please.

What’s the most popular service?

I would say the Brazilian is the most popular with eyebrows as a close second.
