The next stylish peep that I am so excited to feature is Brigitte. I found Brigitte on Instagram because her boyfriend tagged her in a post, how cute is that? When I saw her page, I knew I had to feature her because her style is unique to her, not something I have seen. Brigitte’s interview was a breath of fresh air because not only is she physically beautiful, but her inner beauty definitely came through when I met her in person. What’s your name & how old are you?

My name is Brigitte Kysha Pacheco, and I’m 26 years young.

What are you wearing?

I’m currently wearing an arrangement of some of my favorite pieces in my closet. My jeans are about four years old and worn out, but they are definitely my go-to for comfort. They’re from Topshop and they’re called the Jamie’s. My T-shirt is a Notorious BIG t-shirt, I got it for Christmas and I’m more than positive that it’s become a staple piece in my T-shirt collection (they’re all I wear!). My cropped sweater is from a collaboration that UNIF x Urban Outfitters had. It was a random find on a day that I was rushing to work and undermined how many layers I should’ve worn. I found it on sale ($19.99) and it was also one of the more brutally cold winter days we had last year, so it was a justifiable purchase. My faux fur coat was thrifted in NYC and it was also a random find! I struck gold when I came across it, I would’ve never forgiven myself if I didn’t leave with it. I’ve always had LOTS of sneakers, but no shoe can ever replace my love for my Jordan 1’s. There’s absolutely nothing that can’t be worn with them. And last but certainly not least, my bag is from a Coach x Disney collaboration, an out of the blue gift from my boyfriend because I’m a Disney fanatic.

Who/what inspires your style? 

I’m not someone who naturally forces ANYTHING, so I stay true to my comfort at all times. I don’t believe in having to sacrifice my coziness for any occasion, there’s always a way to make it work. My everyday style is cozy, minimal base pieces with complementary loud statements pieces and accessories. Whether it’s the color that stands out, the detail in a pattern, or the texture, something always has to be EXTRA in my outfit. It wouldn’t be me without it. I think my style is mainly inspired by what I aspire to do as a career in the future. Visual Merchandisers have to take a blank slate/canvas to inspire the customer/client to shop. Attracting with three-dimensional displays with the goal to maximize sales & traffic. I do the same with myself. I’m the display attracting, engaging, and motivating whomever takes the time to appreciate my style.

How long have you lived/live in Jersey City?

I moved to Zebriskie Street in Jersey City my freshman year of HS. My parents had bought an apartment building in the Heights a few years earlier, but for school district reasons we had stayed living in Union City for most of my childhood. Nonetheless growing up in Hudson County, Jersey City was like a backyard for us. Union City, North Bergen, West New York, and Weehawken didn’t necessarily have a major shopping area besides Bergenline Ave, so growing up that’s were we went to hangout, shop, and watch movies. Newport Centre seemed so much bigger for us then. It allowed a lot of my generation to expand friendships in not just our cities. I met some of my oldest and closest friends on trips to that mall. Although I don’t live in Jersey City any longer, I always find myself visiting my favorite spots and hanging out downtown all the time. I really love it, it’s like a mini epicenter for art, music, and good eats.

And your favorite Jersey City spot?

Narrowing down my favorite spot is difficult, but I would need to give credit to the top three places I’m obsessed with. Gino’s Pizzeria on Central Avenue in The Heights is and forever will be my favorite pizza place! I was taken there for years as a kid, and I have so many great memories there. It’s been around since 1976 and I hope to take my family there someday. Dullboy located in Downtown Jersey City on Grove Street is where I can grab my favorite cocktail, The Yoko. They have a very distinct aesthetic & the coolest type writers featured on their walls! Lastly, my favorite place to find a new statement piece for my closet is Another Man’s Treasure on Montgomery Street. Everything in the store is a gem, I don’t think there’s ever been a time I’ve walked out without buying something.

What is one piece of advice that you’d give to your younger self? 

Slow down, be patient, and listen to mom! Life goes by fast enough on its own, so I would definitely tell myself to not be in such a rush to grow up. Enjoy the time and people in your life, and remember that nothing happens overnight.
