The Theater | After School and Chill Brown
March 23 @ 8:00 PM - 11:30 PMFree
AFTER SCHOOL ORCHESTRA creates music on stage that has never been made before. We practice the art of discovering music live. The musicians add blocks, individual ideas, in response to one another, and fit the pieces together through feedback. As musicians layer additional blocks, the song structure and content grows.

ChillBrown is a genreless/genreful band from and based in Jersey City, NJ. This family of friends met in/near/out of school and started making noise together mid-2018. And they are meeting one another again and again through music, seeing/sharing different parts each time. And no two ChillBrown shows are alike. The interaction between their combined energies and the energies summed of the crowd will dictate the outcome every time. And this is as organic as the birth of ChillBrown, which consists of six sweeties: singer/keyboard player Ezenwa, poet/percussionist Rashad, guitarist/singer Gio, drummer Shari, guitarist Wiser, and bassist Melvin.
TONIGHT’S THEME: THE THEATER
A performative look at what it means To Stage authentically. We ordinarily mean “fake” when we say something is “staged.” Tonight we will play with the idea of staging as scheduled intention-setting. We will “perform” recognizing the relationship of player and audience–but try to authentically create on stage.
